Active Life Lab, Finland

Empowering Health Through Innovation and Science

Active Life Lab, established in 2018, is a research and development unit under the South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk), located at the Saimaa Stadium in Mikkeli, Finland.

The lab focuses on developing data-based, effective wellbeing services for preventive health promotion.

The multidisciplinary team at Active Life Lab conducts high-quality research and applies findings in practice. As part of Xamk, the lab plays an active role in capacity building within the local community, emphasizing wellbeing research, development, and innovation processes.

A special focus of Active Life Lab is the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Collaborating with partners, the lab creates solutions that address data economy, green transition, and sustainable wellbeing.

The lab also explores innovative health solutions by integrating nature into healthcare systems, aiming to enhance wellbeing through nature-based interventions. This research supports sustainable practices that align human health with the natural environment and increase nature connectedness.

Additionally, Active Life Lab is involved in building a wellbeing industry ecosystem in the South Savo region through the Active Life HUB project. This initiative focuses on creating new product and service concepts, enhancing marketing and sales, and fostering a diverse ecosystem to support the wellbeing industry.

Through these comprehensive efforts, Active Life Lab aims to promote health and wellbeing, support sustainable business growth, and enhance regional vitality by developing effective, data-based wellbeing services.
